Corporate Services Manager at Watercare NZ
Marlon is currently the Commercial Manager for Watercare Services Limited (Watercare). Watercare delivers services to 1.4 million people in the Auckland region and has over $8 billion in assets. In this role he has responsibility for procurement and revenue structures, including development for the new charging regimes for all current customers (including what is happening with Trade waste customers in Auckland).
Marlon has implemented key projects including monthly billing for 430,000 customer accounts and implementing an Auckland-wide domestic and non-domestic wastewater tariff regime (previously 44 different tariffs across Auckland).
Marlon played a key role in the largest company amalgamation in New Zealand with the integration of 6 existing retail water entities (including Metrowater Limited, Manukau Water Limited and Ecowater) into the previously wholesale water company (Watercare) as part of the Auckland ‘supercity’ amalgamation. His key focus was to deliver a seamless integration of back office functions with a focus on efficiency. Key deliverables included negotiated savings from 1 November 2010 (day one) in excess of $6 million per annum with key suppliers and development of a new regional water price for all of Auckland that was implemented on 1 July 2011.
Marlon is a charismatic leader focussed on delivering results and has proven abilities to manage change and resolve highly complex issues. Prior to this, Marlon held CFO roles at various companies including Manukau Water Limited, a subsidiary of the ex-Manukau City Council that integrated into Watercare as part of the ‘supercity’ amalgamation.
