Nau Mai, Haere Mai – Welcome!

The New Zealand Resuscitation Council is excited to be holding our next in-person scientific meeting in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

At NZ Resus 2026 – Auaha, Ahurea, Hiranga (Innovation, Culture and Excellence) – we look forward to welcoming delegates from Aotearoa and beyond working in all areas of resuscitation from pre-hospital right through to post-cardiac arrest care.

Our focus for the 2026 scientific meeting will be on resuscitation education; discussing how we can integrate technology and improve teaching and learning methods and celebrating our educators.

We are delighted to be bringing NZ Resus back to Te Waipounamu, the South Island, in the fantastic venue Te Pae. Te Pae will provide delegates with ample opportunities to engage with colleagues and global experts in a vibrant collegial setting. In addition, Ōtautahi Christchurch offers many unique and exciting activity options for attendees and their families to enjoy

We look forward to welcoming you to NZ Resus 2026, 15–16 May 2026.

All NZ Resuscitation Council curricula are regularly monitored and updated to ensure health professionals are empowered with a skill set that enables the optimal response whether in the clinical situation or in community settings.

He Po Whakangahau - A night of entertainment

Venue: Christchurch Transitional 'Cardboard' Cathedral

Date: Friday 15 May 2026

Our dinner venue is the newest Cathedral in New Zealand, and the only Cathedral in the world made substantially of cardboard. It is one of the first buildings built in the central city after the devastating earthquakes and is a unique symbol of hope in our broken city.

Architect Shigeru Ban won the prestigious Pritzger Prize for the Cathedral - the only building in New Zealand to have won this award. The Cathedral is a warm, light building, ideal for all occasions.

Join us for a night of delicious food and entertainment!

Welcome to Ōtautahi Christchurch

A warm welcome awaits you in our city, a place of greenery, contemporary and classic architecture, scenery and space. Otautahi Christchurch has been rebuilt and reimagined; Venues are world-class, flexible, and uber-modern. Hotels and accommodation are conveniently close to both venues and hospitality, none more than 10 minutes from each other. All in a spacious and updated city centre designed not just for cars, but humans.

Our city is filled with green spaces, cycle lanes, and precincts reserved for pedestrians (and the occasional tram). We were voted one of the friendliest cities in the world back in 2019, so expect a wave and a smile (perhaps from the tram driver).

We are at the heart of the unforgettable South Island, an island absolutely stacked with pre and post activities and destinations. It's on the bucket list for a reason!

We look forward to welcoming Resus 2026 to our city.

Our Mission

Our mission is to set the standard for resuscitation and first aid in Aotearoa, New Zealand. From this, our vision is that any person in need has the best possible outcome from immediate threat to life and limb.
