In light of recent events we can confirm that Wellington’s conference and business events hosting capacity has been barely affected by the Kaikoura earthquake.  Our 2017 Conference Venue, the Michael Fowler Centre is open for business and looking forward to hosting the combined NZSEE Annual Technical Conference and 15^th World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control of Structures.  Read the conference venue’s full media release.

All hotels are also fully operational, as are the city’s tourist attractions.  A very small number of buildings in the CBD have had structural damage, and these are being managed with minimal impact to normal business and leisure in the city.

There are a large number of lessons to be learnt from this complex earthquake event that we look forward to discussing at our conference.
