Neudorf Mushroom is a young enterprise with the emphasis of
growing mushrooms in a symbiotic relationship with different kind of
trees. We have a European background and a long history of
mushroom foraging in Switzerland .
No tunnel houses. We planted well over 900 trees in the picturesque
setting of the Neudorf Valley .
We were the first in New Zealand to produce Saffron milk caps in
commercial quantities and sell our dried wild mushroom mix to
restaurants and shops and individuals and are regulars to the Nelson
Farmers Market from early March to end of June.
The farm consists also of a olive grove and 120 Chestnut trees with
views towards the mountains and the sea.

On 5 hectares, we grow a wide range of fruit and
vegetables organically. I have been developing this piece
of land since 1986, initially with fruit production and more
recently, indoor and outdoor veges, herbs and a few
spices.
We sell most of what we produce direct at local markets
with the balance going through local restaurants and
produce retailers. A big part of my operation is making
volumes of compost from a variety of sources.

Moutere Gold is based 35km North West of Nelson in the small village of Upper Moutere.
It is here we use traditional methods to make our preserves, always in small batches, with
no additives or preservatives, so as not to compromise quality and flavor. We have never
felt the need to change our production methods or compromise on quality for the sake of
profit.
Preserving fruit in season for use throughout the year is a tradition that goes back
centuries and our talented cooks do it just the way it has always been done.

Cawthron Institute is the largest, independent, scientific research facility in New
Zealand, providing high quality research advice and analytical services to
support the development of New Zealand’s seafood industry and
sustainable management of coastal and freshwater environments.
The Glenhaven Aquaculture Centre is Cawthron’s centre of aquaculture
excellence in which researchers, industry and educators work collaboratively on
shellfish aquaculture research and commercialisation, and produce baby
shellfish (spat).
Research focuses on the biology and breeding of farmed shellfish species such
as Greenshell Mussels, Pacific Oysters, Flat (Bluff) Oysters and Geoduck. The
overall objective of the centre is to increase the value of farmed shellfish by
improving their quality and consistency, and this is achieved through selective
breeding as well as improved understanding of shellfish biology and behaviour.
The Aquaculture Centre allows for a natural progression of Cawthron science
being put to use in practical ways to support the Aquaculture Industry.

terroir of the Nelson Moutere winegrowing region.
The Rimu Grove philosophy starts with an uncompromising desire to
produce the best wines possible. Meticulous management in the vineyard
produces grapes with a fine balance of varietal flavours, textures and
aromas. The fruit and wine are handled carefully to retain and accentuate
those delicate characteristics. Every effort is made to produce the finest
wine.

Guyton’s is a locally owned fish processor and retailer. We specialise in sourcing a
wide range of fish species and processing to a very high standard for both the
wholesale market and our 3 retail shops in Nelson waterfront, Richmond Mall, and
Blenheim.
Our Nelson waterfront is an iconic NZ seafood shop…the range is superb and the
filleters are visible through a window to the factory. Guyton’s has experienced staff
who only hand fillet all fish, meaning the quality and consistency is superb.

Brian and Sharon Beuke originally started up the Sheep Milk Cheese Factory in 2005. Brian is 4th generation
on the family farm and started milking East Friesian sheep and producing Sheep Milk Cheeses 5 years ago.
We are located in the beautiful Neudorf Valley in the Moutere Hills, a forty minute drive from Nelson city. We
produce consistently top quality cheeses.
Fiona our cheese maker does us proud and consistently brings home medals from the annual NZ Cheese
awards, entering different cheeses each year.
We currently stock three hard sheep milk cheeses, the ‘Neudorf’ the very popular ‘Richmond Red’, and the ‘Mt
Arthur’, along with a sheep milk Feta, and also a very successful soft cheese, ‘Mt Crusader’. This is a
seasonal “to die for” cheese. We supply it wrapped, with a shelf life of just three weeks, or sealed in pottles
with oil to give a 3 month shelf life.
“Neudorf” is our 1st cheese and very popular, withstanding the test of time. It is a French Pyrenean style hard
cheese, with a complexity of flavours, at first nutty then sweet. This was a Gold medalist in 2006, 2007 &
2008, and Champion sheep milk cheese in 2008. This is a superb table cheese.
Our famous ‘Richmond Red’ is a golden washed rind cheese with a complimentary caramel flavour. Awarded
Silver medals 2008 & 2010, it sits beautifully with, and we thoroughly recommend, a good quality red wine
such as Neudorf Vineyards Pinot Noir.
The newest cheese to become available is “’Mt Arthur”. A gouda style, Gold Medal winner in 2008. This has a
soft ‘gentle’ texture with a hint of pineapple flavour. Really yummy.
Feta cheese in New Zealand has come of age at last. Ours sit right at the top with a gold medal coming our
way at the 2011 awards. Following traditional European methods, ours is created after the popular crumbly
Greek style of feta. Using a true feta makes a real difference and will be noticed by discerning diners.
Mt Crusader, our young fresh cheese was champion fresh un-ripened cheese and took the only Gold medal
among 19 medals in this class at the 2011 Awards.
If you are looking for an exciting cheese for your menu, in salads, on a cheese board or as part of a dessert
with fruit, talk to us and excite your diners with an ingredient that is not an every day supermarket product. Mt
Crusader is available from August to March, direct from us or through specialist outlets.

“We produce vintage cider using traditional English methods. Our orchard of apple trees has been
grafted to heritage English cider varieties, which produce a superior cider of complexity and depth. The
apples are grown organically, left to tree ripen before harvesting, and pressed on the farm. The cider
juice is left to mature with minimum intervention over the winter months, and is ready to be bottled or
kegged after 7-8 months of maturation. We produced our first vintage in 2010, and have received a
tremendous response.
Alex and I have run businesses together for over twenty years, principally in the area of environmental
protection. We enjoy drinking high quality cider, and noticed the lack of availability of 'real' cider when
we came to NZ eight years ago. When we moved onto a fruit orchard on Neudorf Road five years ago,
we decided to graft the trees over to cider apples and produce a boutique cider in the English tradition.
We have been selling our cider through cafes and restaurants and directly via the Nelson Farmers
Market. Peckham's cider will also very shortly be available online from Regional Wines and Spirits.”
