{"id":1849,"date":"2022-08-19T02:25:43","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T02:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/confer.co.nz\/nmc2023\/?page_id=1849"},"modified":"2022-09-28T04:45:42","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T04:45:42","slug":"welcome-letter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/confer.co.nz\/nmc2023\/welcome-letter\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Letter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1>Welcome to NMC2023<\/h1>\n<p>The NMC Board respects the essential living custodial relationship between all First Nations peoples and the land, the water and the oceans, and we respect their cultural and spiritual practices.<\/p>\n<p>We respect all Elders and are committed to reconciliation among all people.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Following extensive discussions with key NMC collaborators, and on behalf of the Board of NMC Ltd, I am very pleased to welcome everyone to the website for next year&#8217;s conference, which will convene in <a href=\"https:\/\/confer.co.nz\/nmc2023\/wellington\/\">Wellington, New Zealand<\/a>, between 3 and 6 September. This will be the first time NMC has convened off-shore and we are delighted that the Conference Design Committee and the Professional Conference Organisers are New Zealand-based.<\/p>\n<p>The conference theme, <em>&#8216;Connecting, Disrupting, Courageous conversations&#8217;,<\/em> reflects the strengths of the dispute resolution sector in Australia and in New Zealand. We bring people together, we disrupt the status quo, and we welcome complex and courageous discussions.<\/p>\n<p>NMC2023 will be your opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in our sector, and to enjoy face-to-face get togethers. In keeping with the conference location, NMC2023 will also celebrate and showcase the important contributions that New Zealand&#8217;s practitioners have made to dispute resolution, in particular to restorative practices and processes.<\/p>\n<p>The Board and I want to thank Associate Professor Jane Bolitho and Associate Professor Grant Morris for Co-Chairing the Conference Design Committee (CDC) and overseeing the development of a packed program of activities and events to engross and delight delegates throughout the three-day conference.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with NMC&#8217;s recent commitment to honouring First Nations persons the Conference Design Committee reflects the First Nations people of Aotearoa &#8211; M\u0101ori , as well as Pacifika and pakeha (white) persons.
