CALL FOR PAPERS

TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS AND REVIEW PROCESS

You are invited to choose the following types of submission and review process:

  • Research Papers: These are the standard papers researchers write for journals that contain new contributions to the topic.  They also include important references which form the basis of what has been observed before about the topic.  Papers of this kind could use quantitative or qualitative methods; or, could provide a systematic literature review.
    Review Process: Research Papers will be reviewed according to scientific standards.
  • Insight Papers: These do not need to document new information about a topic.  They may describe the views and/or experiences of the authors that they believe to be relevant to the topic, or practices around a specific event.  An example would be experiences in emergencies that generate insights that needed to be considered.  They could also raise new issues and questions about emergency situations.
    Review Process: Insight Papers will be reviewed with respect to practical relevance and applicability.
  • Posters: Posters may be used to describe early stage work or components of a larger research effort, and may summarise either academic research or professional experience or practice
    Review Process: Posters will be reviewed by poster session co-chairs.

Having selected the type of submission, authors have the option of submitting their selected type of paper in one of the following two categories.

  • CoRe: Completed Research Papers presenting completed work including a description of methods, results and validation. Papers of this kind should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words (approximately 8 to 12 pages in length).
  • WiPe: Work In Progress Papers presenting work in earlier stages, outlining concepts and discussing first results. Papers of this kind should be between3,000 and 5,000 words (approximately 4 to 6 pages in length).

For each type of paper, submissions are welcome from academics, students, researchers, practitioners, technical or other experts, policy makers, or other professionals in the crisis management domain.

Both CoRe and WiPe papers will be included in the conference proceedings, and the type of submission and reviewing process will be clearly identified.  Posters will not appear in the proceedings.

Requirements for and review of any submissions invited under workshops, tutorials or the PhD colloquium will be managed by the chairs of those events under a separate process.

CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

We invite proposals to organise and run Workshops that:

  • actively engage participants in exploring particular topics;
  • may include novel content, including research findings, though this is not a requirement and
  • have clear aims and objectives.

Topics may include, for example:

  • implementing a particular standard operating procedure or practice;
  • making best use of a particular data set or analytical tool or
  • adapting a methodology or practice based on recent research findings.

Review Process: Proposals will be reviewed for relevance to the overall conference theme, for the possibility of attracting attendees, and for potential benefits being delivered to those attendees.
