This field trip offers a diverse geological journey through Aotearoa\u2019s dynamic landscapes on Taranaki Peninsula. The four-day trip immerses participants in the striking geology of the region, where volcanic peaks, rugged coastlines, and ancient sedimentary strata converge. From Tongap\u014drutu’s sea stacks to the towering slopes of Mt Taranaki, participants will explore the forces that have shaped the landscape, exploring a geological history that spans from the Miocene to present. The trip will look at diverse sedimentary strata from volcaniclastics in mountainous rivers to deposits that accumulated in deep water. Each day\u2019s discoveries build toward a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between tectonics, sedimentation, and coastal processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
