 <\/p>\nOverview:
\n<\/strong>This one-day workshop is designed to introduce participants to the complex world of shale and mudstone facies. Drawing on over 40 years of research and teaching experience across The Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa, Dr. Schieber will guide attendees through the fundamentals of describing and interpreting these heterogenous lithologies. Catering for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.\n

  • The nature and variability of shale and mudstone facies.<\/li>\n
  • The conditions and processes that determine what we find in the rock record.<\/li>\n
  • The applications of sequence stratigraphy to mudstone successions.<\/li>\n
  • Practical approaches to description and interpretation, informed bu decades of hands-on research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Workshop Format<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This session will be lecture-based and may be supported by exercises to reinforce key concepts.<\/p>\n

    Who Should Attend?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Geologists that are interested to learn more about mudstones and shales, on how they form, and how one can work with them efficiently. Participants should have a working knowledge of sedimentary rocks, sedimentology, and stratigraphy, but no specialised knowledge about shales and mudstones is required. Suitable for the practicing sedimentary geologist (academia or industry), as well as students considering a career in sedimentary geology.<\/p>\n
