Glacial sedimentary deposits and their associated geomorphological features are often viewed through the prism of present-day processes on Earth. However, the question of representativeness is an important factor in the correct interpretation of the sedimentary record.<\/p>\n

Through the session we seek to showcase a wide array of studies in which the glacial record is viewed through different perspectives and to highlight the factors that influence the deposition of glacio-fluvial sediments through time. These can include the workings of past and present fjordal valleys, newly exposed features in modern glacial environments linked to rapid retreat of the ice masses, or how studying diamictite at the microscale can elucidate the big picture dynamics of sediment deposition.<\/p>\n

In this session we will explore the red thread linking all glacial records through exciting contributions from researchers that work on modern and ancient glacial records alike.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
