Welcome - Mihi Whakatau

Where: Tākina Convention & Exhibition Centre
The Congress will begin with a Mihi Whakatau - a ceremonial welcome acknowledging our arrival and the coming together of mana whenua (local people) and manuhiri (guests) at Tākina Convention & Exhibiton Centre. This *pōwhiri-inspired gathering will include karanga (ceremonial call), whaikōrero (welcome speech), waiata tautoko (song), and a kapa haka (performance), followed by the sharing of kai (food) and refreshments. We invite all delegates to participate in this important moment of cultural exchange and connection to open the congress.
*A pōwhiri is a traditional Māori welcoming ceremony for guests (manuhiri) to a marae (meeting grounds) or another significant place. Tākina is not a marae.
Evening Social Function

Unwind and connect with fellow delegates at our evening social gathering held at the close of the conference day. This informal event offers a relaxed setting to continue conversations, build new collaborations, and enjoy drinks and nibbles in good company. Early Career Scientists Night
