We have lined up two Field Trip options for conference this year. Both promise to be valuable, educational opportunities.
Option 1: The Bromley Waste Water Treatment Plant
Christchurch wastewater is carried through a network of underground pipes and pumps to the Wastewater Treatment Plant at Bromley. Delegates will discover what happens to anything that goes down the drain. Be prepared for a revival of your senses – this is a smelly one!
The treatment processes delegates will see include rag/grit removal, primary water treatment, secondary water treatment, solids digestion and solids de-watering/drying. The tour will also take in the powerhouse, which uses the digestion gas to make power for the site.
Option 2: The Christchurch ChemWaste Treatment Plant
ChemWaste is a leader in liquid and solid waste treatment and disposal services throughout New Zealand. Their core activities include the collection, treatment and disposal of all types of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, both liquid and solid.
ChemWaste is strategically located with specialist facilities in Auckland and Christchurch. Their support facilities, coupled with strong industry relationships, mean they are capable of servicing any requirement from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
This is your opportunity to visit the local treatment facility. See their website for more details: www.chemwaste.co.nz.
