{"id":2690,"date":"2024-04-15T03:09:34","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T03:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/confer.co.nz\/fib2024\/?page_id=2690"},"modified":"2024-06-12T03:51:35","modified_gmt":"2024-06-12T03:51:35","slug":"tourist-activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/confer.co.nz\/fib2024\/tourist-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Christchurch Tours"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1>Tourist Activities during Conference Dates (Accompanying Person&#8217;s Programme)<\/h1>\n\t<p>The Committee has put together a number of sightseeing activities for delegates and accompanying persons to discover Christchurch and its surroundings. <\/p>\n<p><strong>How to book:<\/strong> Once you have registered for the conference, your registration confirmation email will include a link to make a booking for the tours.<\/p>\n<p>All tours will depart from and return to the lobby of Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates and or accompanying persons are required to be ready and waiting 15 minutes ahead of tour departure times.<\/p>\n<strong>Cancellations<\/strong><br \/>\nCancellations must be advised in writing to <a href=\"mailto:fib2024@confer.co.nz\">fib2024@confer.co.nz<\/a>. Setting out from Christchurch, travel to the remote and beautiful Mt Potts high country station (ranch). Here, peaceful Mt Sunday was transformed into Edoras, home to the Riders of Rohan in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. On a guided walk learn how the set was built on top of sheer cliffs, see exclusive photos from the film set&#8217;s construction, and enjoy the awe-inspiring 360-degree views from the summit (just like Eowyn did in the movies!). Take in the pristine beauty, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and understand why the actors and crew fell in love with this stunning location. From Christchurch travel 45 minutes north of through the New Zealand countryside to the Waipara Valley, well known for its warm, dry climate and rich alluvial soils, ideal for superior wine production. Over 40 vineyards and wineries pepper the landscape of the valley, with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc dominating local plantings. This winery tour includes Pegasus Bay, Waipara Springs, Torlesse and Waipara Hills Winery.\nPlatter lunch at a Waipara winery restaurant.
