On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 17th International Conference on the Ecology and Management of Alien Plant Invasions hosted by Lincoln University, Christchurch between the 2nd and 5th September 2025.
The South Island of New Zealand is arguably the most beautiful part of the country and Christchurch, framed as it is between the volcanic coastal scenery of Banks Peninsula and the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps has much to offer the international visitor and invasion biologist alike.
Our conference theme “From Ecology to Action: Innovative Solutions for Plant Invasion Management” captures the need for the science of plant invasions to deliver solutions. New Zealand is an ideal setting to illustrate the way forward in terms of invasive plant management through biological control, community initiatives, and long-term national programmes. Examples of these activities can all be found on the doorstep of Lincoln University and our location will be the stimulus for a memorable conference that will bring together leading researchers and practitioners to forge new insights into alien plant management.
Do make the most of your visit to New Zealand, the austral spring is an ideal time to enjoy the amazing scenery, see the extraordinary wildlife, and experience the fascinating culture.
